Having trouble remembering all the important questions to ask during your patient encounter? Then try this Domestic Violence Mnemonic (Abuse) for USMLE Step 2 CS.
- Patient’s chief complaint is not going to abuse! Patient is going to come in with some other complaint. Make sure you check patients extremities for any signs of bruises.
- The Differential diagnosis depends on how the case is presented. Look for patient who is anxious with evidence of bruises, who is most likely denies being abused and blames her bruises on herself falling or some kind of injury.
- Diagnostic work up depends on your differential diagnosis.
